I am going to be doing a series in the new year about How to Buy a Used Car. I will cover everything from researching it online, local places to look, negotiating, and more.

I won’t be covering how to borrow the money! 

My opinion is you should almost never buy a car on credit. I say ‘almost’ because there may be a time where it makes sense, but I don’t know when that is.  Cars lose value faster than anything you could buy.  I have bought many, many used cars, ( and sold a few too ) so I know some things to help you make a good deal.  Be sure to sign up to my feed  ( in the upper left corner), so you won’t miss this series.

Okay.  I think I am pretty well rounded and I have been on the Internet since before Al Gore invented it, so I know my way around.  When I found PayPerPost, I was mildly excited. Doing reviews for companies online, helps to drive traffic to those sites.

Does it really save money to shop at these places? This question has always been on my mind.  I know there is no definitive answer, and since I am an engineer ( Virginia Tech, Go Hokies), I like to find definitive answers when I can.  I have decided it may not be worth the time it would take to figure this one out.  I have come to the following conclusions, at least for our family.

I don’t usually enter contests, but what the heck.. I could use a free  8 Gig iPod Touch. He is also giving away 500 Entrecard Credits.  That would buy me a place on John Chow for a day.  That couldn’t hurt.  Promotion is a big part of blogging, as I am learning.  We all want more visitors to read our sites and visit advertisers.  It really doesn’t matter how good my blog is, if no one comes to read it, so maybe this contest will help me as well.  Go on over to the Big Bald Blog and enter the contest yourself.

The reason for the season, is not buying gifts, getting gifts, eating a ton of food, or complaining about the relatives.  Although these are some popular activities. Let’s remember that Christmas is the celebration of Christ’s birth.

• Care for those less fortunate.

How many times do we ship something and think to ourselves, " this is gonna cost more than it’s worth", or "I know they would like to get this quick, but it just costs too much".

Well, have you considered the good ole US Post Office?

They have some pretty good deals these days on shipping. I have had great success with using them for priority mail, and now with the "flat rate" service, it is even better. For example, 

the inside dimensions for the two boxes available are 11" x 8.5" x 5.5" and 13.625" x 11.875" x 3.375". The two boxes are different shapes to accommodate a variety of contents. This box, stuffed with whatever you are shipping, costs only $8.95 to ship anywhere in the US.  They say it will arrive in 2-3 days, and I have found that is correct.
